Gig Harbor, WA - Live in the Best Neighborhoods
Why Do People Live here?
Gig Harbor is unique in that it is on a peninsula (Kitsap). That has kept it somewhat isolated from the rest of Washington, but yet connected by bridges. It's part of Pierce County same as Tacoma and adjacent to Kitsap County. It's not crowded like Seattle or Tacoma, yet easy to get to. Another important reason is the Neighborhoods.
What's the Neighborhood Like?
I lived in Gig Harbor for several years and its one of those places you feel right at home cozied up to a fire on the beach, sailing along the shore or walking the miles of trails. The peninsula is covered in endless evergreens, creating the perfect green belt between homes. Most people have a view of either water or mountains and if not that then trees. Tacoma is 1 mile across the Narrows bridge and Seattle is 40 minutes north with the SeaTac airport in between.
Just north is Port Orchard and the county seat and generally a more affordable place to live. Head north to Bremerton, where the Navy has a big presence with the shipyard, Naval Base Kitsap (Bangor submarine base, and Bremerton Naval station) and Keyport Underwater Warfare.
The homes you would expect to find for sale in the Kitsap area range from farms to million dollar estates. They can be inland forested areas or waterfront property. Gig Harbor, bedroom community of Tacoma can have some high priced homes along the waterfront, but inland you can find some very modestly priced homes that can buy you a lot. No matter where you live there is plenty of room for people to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery and would be described as suburban.
