Poulsbo Viking Fest May 20-22, 2016
Poulsbo's Viking Fest is a celebration of Norway's Constitution Day of May 17. In Norway, it is a festival of flags and colorful processions, where children walk to the music of marching bands. Traditional Norwegian costumes are a prominent and common part of the celebrations. The festivities last from early morning to late at night. Parties with family and friends featuring traditional food and drinks are common.
Poulsbo celebrates its Norwegian heritage with traditional music, dance and food. There will also be other types of entertainment and parade. The Lutefisk eating contest is always a fan favorite. The Vikings be demonstrating the Shield Wall used to protect from arrows and fire during battle. The Leikarringen dancers demonstrate traditional dance.

Don't forget to check out many of the nonprofit booths and vendors. These are major fundraisers for the community. As a member of the Lions Club, I encourage you to check out the Strawberry Shortcake at the King Olav Parking lot.
Then for breakfast and lunch visit the NK HS Commons for some Pancakes.

Fun Fact: There is no archaeological evidence that the Vikings ever wore horns on their helmets. It was popularized by Wagnerian Operas of the 1870s.
