Why Do People Live in Poulsbo?
Poulsbo surrounds beautiful Liberty Bay with a number of parks and marinas for your enjoyment, but it's the friendly historic Norwegian town and people that make it one of the top tourist destinations in Washington.
Enjoy spectacular views of the water and both the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. Poulsbo has a long history as a destination for immigrants from Scandinavia, particularly Norway and Finland. Downtown Poulsbo maintains a Scandinavian theme in its shops and restaurants and is a popular regional tourist destination.
Many visitors love to travel to Poulsbo by boat as there are three marinas in town or by ferry boat from Seattle and even Cruise ships visit Poulsbo.
Poulsbo was settled in its early years by a large number of Norwegian and other Scandinavian immigrants because of its similarities to their native countries. Check out events at the Son's of Norway.
Come visit the Poulsbo Visitor Center19010 Front Street and visit the brand new Maritime Museum with free public bathroom.

 Shopping

Thirty years ago there were very few places to go shopping, but that has changed a lot. We have the historical charming downtown with waterfront shops. Great for strolling and resting and eating at the parks. Viking Way has a variety of restaurants, cinema, food bank, dealerships, and breweries. Hwy 305 has strip malls, restaurants, and banks. But there is also a new shopping area on the North West side of Hwy 3 for more of the big box stores and college. For a town this size to have 4 major shopping districts shows the confidence in the growth, yet Poulsbo manages to maintain it's old world charm.

For those foodies there is everything from famous Poulsbo bread and bakeries to the finest of restaurants. Check out Norwegian food at Caffe Stua, European & Scandinavian food at Tizley's Pub, steak at The Loft on the waterfront or seafood at JJs Fishhouse there is something for everyone.

When it comes to entertainment many would first recognize the natural beauty, public trails and parks, but there are museums, theaters, play houses, museums and much more.
